Senators Begin 2005 Season With Convincing Win Over Herndon

          HERNDON, VA-- The Vienna Senators began the 2005 campaign with a convincing win over the Herndon Braves in a Clark Griffith League game at Herndon High School.  The Senators defeated the Braves 7-2 and pounded the Braves pitching staff for nine hits.

             First Baseman Justin Bunkis led the offensive onslaught with three hits, including a towering homerun over the left field wall in the third inning, while right fielder Joe Hughes chipped in with two hits and an RBI. Third baseman Kevin Hansen added one hit and two RBIs.  Mike Genovese and Reggie Dixon each added an RBI to finish off the offensive attack. 

            Hunter Hall picked up his first victory for the Senators, allowing only one earned run in four innings of crisp pitching.  Jon Adams and Billy Tinsley finished off the Braves allowing only one hit and striking out seven collectively in five innings of relief work. 

            The Senators take on the Fauquier Gators at 3 P.M. Sunday June 5, in a league contest at Waters Field in Vienna.
