VIENNA, VA—The Senator coaching staff has chosen centerfielder David Cline as the Senator of the Week for his performances during the week of July 18-25.  Cline had an impressive offensive week, going 11-22 with seven runs scored, two doubles, one triple, two homeruns, and three RBIs as the team’s leadoff hitter.  He also had an impressive .913 slugging percentage and a .500 on base percentage during the week.

Cline, a rising senior at the University of Pittsburgh, hit .268 with five doubles, three triples, and one homerun for the Panthers this season.  He also stole seventeen bases this season.  Cline was named Big East Player of the Week for the week of April 25 after going 7 for 11 with a triple, a double, two RBIs, and five runs in a weekend series sweep against West Virginia. 

As a sophomore, Cline finished fourth on the team in hitting with a .338 batting average.  He ranked fourth in the Big East with 24 stolen bases and did not commit an error in the field.  He was named Big East Player of the Week after going 8 for 13 in weekend series against Seton Hall. 

Cline hit .509 and earned four varsity letters while at Mercersburg Academy.  He was named All MAC in 2000 and All MAPL in 2002.  He helped his team win the state championship in 2001.  Was named the Herald Mail CO-Player of the Year after his senior year.  He was also named first team Public Opinion as a junior and senior.
