The Senator coaching staff has chosen first baseman Justin Bunkis as this season’s first Senator Player of the Week.  Bunkis, a freshman at Loyola Marymount University, had an impressive first week for the Senators

Through eight games, Bunkis is hitting .312 with two homeruns and10 RBIs.  His homerun and RBI totals lead the team.    He also leads the team with 17 total bases, 10 hits and is tied for the team lead with one double.  He started the week strong by homering in his first at bat as a Senator against the Herndon Braves and ended the week just as impressively by collecting four hits against Reston on Sunday afternoon. 

Bunkis is a 2004 graduate of Santa Margarita High School in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA.  He was ranked as the number 36 prospect in California by Perfect Game USA.  He helped Santa Margarita to a Sierra League title in 2004 while playing for coach Mike Borowski.

The Senator coaching staff will choose the Senator Player of the Week every Monday based on the previous week’s performance.
