VIENNA, VA—Senator pitcher and Vienna native Billy Tinsley has been named the Clark C. Griffith League Player of the Week for July 4-10.  Tinsley had two impressive performances this past week.  On Sunday, he pitched a four hit shutout in the second game of the doubleheader against the Herndon Braves.  For the game, he struck out eight while only walking one.  His performance helped the Senators sweep the doubleheader and move back into first place in the second half standings.  On Independence Day, Tinsley allowed only one run and struck out four in three innings of work as the Senators beat the Fairfax Nationals 2-1.

For the season, Tinsley has compiled a 5-0 record with a minute 1.35 ERA.  He has pitched 40 innings while striking out 36.  He has only walked six batters, which gives him an amazing 6:1 strikeout to walk ratio.  More importantly, the Senators are 6-0 in games that Tinsley has started.

A rising red shirt junior at George Mason University, Tinsley appeared in seven games for the Patriots, compiling a 1-0 record with a 3.86 ERA.  Tinsley starred at nearby Bishop O’ Connel High School where he compiled a 16-4 overall record and was named All Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) and all- Virginia Independent School (VIS) as a junior.
